Koh Lao (Lao Island)

            Koh Lao is at Moo 6 Paknumsubdistrict, MuangRanong,Ranong province.Koh Lao is a small island over Thai-Myanmar Sea boundary of Ranong province.Koh Lao has 2 groups of a peoples, First is “ Thai people group” stay around Koh Lao Nai and they are a Buddha and Muslim, The Second isa Mogan peoples group” . Ms. Dang Nesangkeaw is a head of village. The village has Thai people is 428 peoples and Mogan people is 278 peoples.

Koh Lao is an organization of the island. It prepares an alcohol free zone. Follow in this below;

- The west of Koh Lao zone is a muslim  and Thai Buddha community, No alcohol in this area zone. 

- The east of Kohlao zone is Mogan village . In generally, They are like to drink some of alcohol. So tourist should to follow in their principles.

            On May – October, They do a marine shrimp to make a shrimp pastes, that we called “Kapi”.Kapi product is very famous from Koh Lao. It has a good taste. Werecommend to  a tourists should visit andwatch a lifestyle of Koh Lao islanders and a Mangrove forest , a fisheries feed kasung fishes, and Mogan peoples.

            Koh Lao is still has a beautiful islets to visit such as KohKontee has a view point of Buddha on a hill, KohTaru has taru hole, and you can see Hinkorm beach at KohFimhai.

How to get to KohLao ?

            You can rent a long-tail boat fromSapanPra pier about 5 km.It will take for 20 minute to get there.
